Former Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio turned over to the UP College of Law a replica of an 1875 official map of the Philippine Territory published in Madrid during the Spanish regime.
The map is officially called the “1875 Carta General del Archipelago Filipino” and was adopted and re-issued by the United States four times as the official map of the Philippine territory during the American regime.
UP Law Dean Darlene Berberabe accepted the donation on behalf of the college in turnover rites held last October 18 at the Ambion Room of the Malcolm Hall.
Trustees of the Malcolm Foundation, among them, Commission on Audit Chair Grace Pulido Tan, former Ombudsman and Supreme Court Associate Justice Conchita Carpio Morales, former Defense Secretary Avelino Cruz Jr., Atty. Fina Tantuico, and Atty. John Molo witnessed the turnover.
