The UP Law Alumni Relations Office extends a hearty congratulations to the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons for winning the 2024 UAAP Men’s Basketball Championship. UP won the championship after defeating De La Salle University with a score of 66 to DLSU’s 62 in Game 3 of the Season 87 Finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last December 15.
This is UP’s second championship in the past four seasons and its fourth UAAP title overall.
Leading the Fighting Maroons in its winning streak was point guard JD Cagulangan named Finals Most Valuable Player for this season. His team mates, particularly top scorers Quentin Millora-Brown and Francis Lopez also played crucial roles in securing UP’s win over DLSU. Head coach Goldwin Monteverde’s leadership likewise prove invaluable to the Fighting Maroons’ victory.
